An information analyst is responsible for many industry specific duties for the field that they work in, though common tasks include monitoring and assessment of organizational operation. Information Analyst Job Duties and Responsibilities

Information analysts serve as primary in monitoring and assessing a company's operation. Depending upon the industry in which they work, informational analysis encompasses everything from healthcare operations to finance and manufacturing processes. Peripheral duties of the information analyst include compiling dynamic sets of data and presenting any conclusions he or she arrives at based upon it or proposing an alternative research strategy when the information is inconclusive. For example, information analysts may be called upon to better understand the operative data behind climate change. Information Analyst Job Requirements

Most positions as an information analyst require a master's degree or other graduate diploma. Like the job duties of an information analyst, career requirements are also determined by industry. It is not uncommon for an information analyst to find him or herself transitioning into this career once occupational prerequisites have been fulfilled. Information Analyst Occupational Outlook

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), www.bls.gov, reports that information analyst jobs will grow by eight percent at most before 2014. Around 80% of operations information or research analyst positions will be in federal employment, usually in defense.

The BLS reported that information analysts earned a median income of $60,190 in 2004. Median wages for information analysts in federal employment were $89,882 that same year.
