Basics of a Certificate in Financial Planning

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), personal financial advisors earned, on average, $66,120 per year in 2006, with the middle 50% bringing home annual salaries between $44,130 and $114,260. Financial planners employed by firms typically earn an annual salary plus a bonus, while self-employed financial planners or those who charge hourly fees may earn additional money on fees from stock and insurance purchases. Some also take a percentage of their client's assets. As life expectancy increases and more and more members of the Baby Boom Generation near retirement, the demand for competent Financial Planners who can provide sound investment and retirement advice is rising as well. BLS estimates that job growth for Financial Planners will be 41% over the next decade, which is much faster than the average for all occupations (www.bls.gov).
